Wavy Abstract Background

Compression Therapy

Enhances Oxygen Delivery

When it comes to running, it is important that you get enough oxygen flowing to your muscles. The worst thing that could happen to you is losing your calf muscle strength before getting to the finish line. This is where compression socks come in. These make sure that optimal oxygen is delivered to your legs and ensures that you get proper circulation.

Reduces Swelling and Cramps

One of the common reasons for calf muscle fatigue is excessive movement. The pressure from compression socks reduces this as well as the effort required of your legs, minimizing the fatigue and keeping you energized.

Fights Varicose Veins

These symptoms occur when the valves in your veins become damaged, and it becomes difficult for blood to move up your legs toward your heart against gravity. The blood then starts pooling around your ankles and in your calves. With time, malfunctioning valves can result in varicose veins — twisted, rope-like veins of bluish or purple color, visible underneath your skin. Sometimes a clot may develop which may induce pain, swelling, redness and can be life-threatening. Especially on air travel, compression therapy can be very helpful with symptoms when sitting for prolonged periods in higher altitudes.

Pregnancy

Women who are pregnant are at a high risk for the development of a Deep Vein Thrombosis, known as DVT (blood clot). One reason is due to the increased blood volume at full term. Additionally, pregnancy causes hormonal changes that increase blood clotting. The expanding uterus puts pressure on blood vessels, restricting blood flow from the legs and pelvis back to the heart. Slower blood flow increases the risk of Deep Vein Thrombosis. The risk continues during the post-partum period until the woman’s hormonal levels return to their pre-pregnancy state.

Shockwave Therapy

Shockwave therapy accelerates the healing process in the body by stimulating the metabolism and enhancing blood circulation to regenerate damaged tissue. Strong energy pulses are applied to the affected area. These pulses occur for short periods of time, creating micro-cavitation bubbles that expand and burst. The force created by these bubbles penetrates tissue and stimulates cells in the body that are responsible for bone and connective tissue healing. In many instances, shockwave therapy is most effective in cases where the human body has not been able to heal itself on its own.

Symptoms of Treatment

Bracing

Bracing is a treatment that can help increase your joint stability, improve alignment, and reduce excessive movements that could make your injuries worse. It also helps offload pressure by absorbing some of the force you might experience when you return to your daily activities. Through bracing, you can get back to playing your favorite sport or doing simple day-to-day activities more quickly and safely.
